TERMS OF SERVICE

LAST UPDATED 2026-08-17

THE SHORT VERSION

You send us something confusing. We tell you what it is and what to do about it. We might be wrong, so don't bet anything irreversible on it without checking. You own what you send; we don't keep your files. You can leave whenever you like and take your data with you.

The rest of this page is the same thing said carefully. Where the two disagree, the rest of this page is what governs.

WHAT THIS IS

whatdoido? ("the service") reads something you send it — a letter, a bill, a form, a photo, a link, a recording, or text you type — and returns a plain-language read on what it is, whether it matters, and what to do next. Where it can, it also helps you do some of that: drafting a message, working out how to cancel something, or setting you a reminder.

The service is operated by whatdoido, an individual-run business based in Colorado, United States, not a registered company. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

WHAT THIS ISN'T

It is not a lawyer, a doctor, a financial advisor, an accountant, or an insurance agent. Nothing it tells you is legal, medical, financial, tax, or insurance advice, and using it does not create a professional relationship of any kind with you.

It is a place to start when you don't know where to start. For anything carrying real money, health, legal, or immigration consequences, treat what you get as a first read and confirm it with a qualified professional before you act.

It is also not an emergency service. If someone is in danger, call your local emergency number.

WHO CAN USE IT

You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. By using it you confirm that you are, and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these terms.

If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation to these terms.

YOUR ACCOUNT

You can try the service once without an account. Beyond that you need to create one.

Keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account, so tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. Accounts are personal and not to be shared or resold.

You can delete your account at any time from the privacy page. Deleting it removes your authentication record and the data rows tied to it, subject to the retention described in that policy.

PLANS, BILLING AND CANCELLATION

The free plan allows three analyses a day using text, link and voice input. Answers on the free plan are not saved, and photo and file upload are not included.

Pro is $9 per month, or $89 per year, and includes unlimited analyses, photo and file upload, and saved history. Pro starts with a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required to begin the trial.

Your subscription renews automatically. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged at the end of the 7 days, and then at the start of each billing period after that, at the rate in effect when you subscribed. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply.

You can cancel at any time from your account page, which opens the billing portal run by our payment processor. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves your access running until the end of the period you have already paid for. We don't give partial refunds for time left on a period, except where the law where you live requires it — and nothing here limits statutory rights you have, including any right of withdrawal or cooling-off period.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. We may change prices or plan limits; if we do, we will give notice before the change applies to a renewal, and you can cancel rather than accept it.

WHAT YOU SEND US

You keep ownership of everything you submit. You give us permission to use it only to run the service for you — to process it, produce a result, and store the result if you are on a plan that saves history.

You are responsible for what you send. By submitting something you confirm you have the right to share it, and that doing so doesn't break a confidentiality obligation, an intellectual property right, or anyone's privacy. Take particular care with documents about other people: if it isn't yours to share, don't send it.

The results you get back are yours to use for your own purposes.

HOW YOUR CONTENT IS PROCESSED

What you submit is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the analysis. When you submit a link, or when an accurate answer depends on current information, the model may fetch that page or search the web as part of answering.

File and photo bytes are not retained beyond the request that processes them — only the file name is kept afterwards. Text you type or dictate, and the result you get, are stored against your account on plans that save history.

The privacy policy is the fuller account of all of this and forms part of these terms.

ACCEPTABLE USE

Don't use the service to:

  • break the law, or help someone else break it;
  • submit content you have no right to share, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • build a profile of, harass, defraud, impersonate, or target another person;
  • get around usage limits, rate limits, or the bot protection on sign-up — including by automating access or running multiple accounts to do so;
  • scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or its output as a competing product;
  • probe, overload, or interfere with the service or the infrastructure behind it, or attempt to reverse-engineer it.

AVAILABILITY

We aim to keep the service running but we don't promise it will be available without interruption. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may impose or adjust usage limits to keep the service working for everyone.

The service depends on third parties — a model provider, a payment processor, a hosting provider, a database host. An outage or change at any of them can affect availability.

SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully or fraudulently, or where we are required to. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. If we close a paid account other than for a breach by you, we will refund the unused portion of the period you have paid for.

DISCLAIMERS

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Analysis can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. It is produced by an AI model that can misread a document, miss something important, or state something confidently that is not correct. The service is designed to say when it doesn't know rather than guess, but that safeguard is not perfect either. We don't warrant that any result is accurate, complete, or suitable for your situation.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed deadlines, or losses arising from a decision you made based on the service's output.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $50.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

INDEMNITY

You agree to cover us for claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms, or from content you submitted that you did not have the right to submit.

GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, and the state and federal courts located in Colorado have jurisdiction over any dispute — except that if you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and any right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve it directly.

CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these terms as the product changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for changes that materially affect your rights we will give notice before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the revised terms.

If you don't accept a change, stop using the service and, if you are on a paid plan, cancel before your next renewal.

THE REST

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
